Active Sync

This is basic but I am at a loss. Active Sync connects, starts to syncronize then stops with an error message that doesn't stay on long enough to read. I have:
Downloaded 3.7.1
Reinstalled Twice
Reinstalled Outlook 2002
USB connects easily
Removed McAfee totally
Selected an earlier set-point for Win XP
Completed a hard reset on PDA (Casio E-125 which has synced well earlier)
Tried earlier versions of Active Sync
Considered using a heavy hammer!!

Any suggestions would be appreciate. I have searched the Web and have tried many options and suggestions.

Uninstall ActiveSync
Cycle Power on the PDA (hard reset)
Uninstall Logbook Pro

Install ActiveSync
Install Logbook Pro 1.9.5

Reaccomplish Pocket PC Companion instructions EXACTLY as shown in the Logbook Pro help file.

Make sure Pocket Access is checked in ActiveSync
Make sure you enter the database path in ActiveSync to be:

\Program Files\Logbook Pro\Logbook.cdb
