Several apps on my iPad have done this in the past few months, but they usually open fine the second time. I am still on iOS 9, & assumed that was part of it.

Phil here; I'm one of the engineers working on the APDL app. A similar report came across my desk earlier this week I believe is related. Keith, can I assume you fly a fair number of international flight? The issue I saw was the map view would cause the app to exit when trying to display very long flights that cross the international date line. The issue has been identified and will be fix in the next app release.
