change in N number when changing type

i have duplicate AC types like C172 and C-172. when i go to consolidate them to one type, the N number changes, what's up?

The two types are isolated and considered completely separate in Logbook Pro. N-Numbers are saved to correspond with a particular type, and after selecting a new Type and tabbing to the N-Number column/field, Logbook Pro will search and display a list of N Numbers for the selected type. When changing the type you are abandoning you will need to re-enter the N Number for that entry.
