What is the best way to backup my logbook data.. i.e. what is the difference between file/save logbook as... and file/archive/backup?
I am currently using both to save the files on my hard drive and also emailing the backup file to another computer where I can save the data on a cd. Just looking for the best way to protect my data.
Thanks.

File...Save As.. is a renaming scheme and should NOT be used for backing up. This actually causes some other issues, such as personalization to be lost.

To backup, use the File..Archive..Backup routine only. This creates a small compressed backup file. I personally use a naming scheme such as:

Logbook_20020425.BAK

Notice the Year, Month, Day embedded at the end.

HTH!!

Thanks for the quick reply. You answered my question perfectly. We must think alike, I name the files exactly the same way.
