Additional Computer

I downloaded the std edition about two weeks for my laptop and have been having computer problems lately. Im now thinking I should have got the edition that allowed 2 seperate computers to be used so I could put a backup editionon my folks computer. What should I do to correct the problem? Also they dont have a burner so what would be the best way to backup periodically?
