Creating my own trips

I am considering purchasing APDAL for my palm treo. Since I'm on reserve, I don't have trips that can be downloaded from the company. They are frequently pieced together last minute.

Can I create my own trips for the logbook as I go along? Or does the information have to be entered on a trip that has been previously downloaded from FLICA or something like that?
