Moving data from laptop to laptop

I have LBP on a laptop that isn't in the best working order and am either going to move it to a new laptop or an external hard drive. Now I have not updated my subscription so I am not sure if by buying the newest, it will allow me to move the location of LBP and the content that is already in it. Or if there is a way to export the data. I do not use the cloud as a back up.

If any one has advice on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated.

Is the section on transferring computer specific settings still current? The KB article is from 2012 and it says that the settings transfer feature will be improved in the next version.
